In below-grade reinforced concrete structures, it is convenient to waterproof the construction joints with suitable metal-sheet waterstops.
By its very nature, the metal-sheet waterstop is a water resistor placed perpendicularly in the construction joint, through which water cannot move past and over within a specific pressure range (check on the product data sheet). A coating is added to the metal sheets to ensure better water resistance, preventing water's movement over them. The WPM® profiles have a mineral coating added, which becomes homogeneous with the concrete when solidified. A homogeneous bond creates stronger water resistance, ensuring a more waterproof node. As a result of the Tallinn University of Technology test, the proven water pressure resistance of WPM® working joint profiles is 2.4 bar.
The total number of construction joints can be reduced using the WPM® Crack Inducer profile that controls shrinkage cracks. On the ground, we can use the WPM® Joint Inducer profile. Crack inducer profiles provide a keyway-shaped construction joint cross-section to ensure the structure's strength and the joint's water tightness.
